FEATURING

Luzy King & Deborah Johnson Miranda

Luzy King is an award-winning Latina Wealth Coach. She became a first-gen investor after learning about investing and wealth building by accident through her MBA program in 2019. During the same year, Luzy was denied access to financial advice because she didn’t have $100K to start investing, and she made a commitment to learn things on her own and become the first one in her family to start investing. Now, she is passionate about teaching women of color all of the strategies she wishes someone would have taught her in school. Luzy is a certified trauma-informed Financial & Business Coach, contributing author, and Community Leader. Luzy is on a mission to destigmatize the idea of wanting more money, more money, and more options. She is ready to teach women of color how to build a legacy through stock market investing and entrepreneurship.

Deborah Johnson Miranda is a Latina money coach working to empower people to overcome limiting beliefs about money, especially anyone who thinks it’s too late to get started. She herself is a late starter to investing and saving, and she twice faced bankruptcy and foreclosure, so she understands financial challenges! After being diagnosed with ADHD, Deborah created a five-point model of health into her practice to create a more holistic view of money. She is a single mama and lives in Seattle with her family.

Episode Description:

Managing finances with ADHD can feel overwhelming, chaotic, and sometimes impossible. In this episode of The Say Hola Wealth Podcast, we explore how to manage finances with ADHD in a way that feels doable, empowering, and aligned with how your brain actually works.

This topic is essential for our comunidad—especially first-gen Latinas—who often navigate cultural expectations, financial pressure, and ADHD symptoms without support. If you’ve ever felt like traditional budgeting advice just doesn’t work for you, this episode will help you break free from that narrative and create a system that does.

You’ll learn how to build ADHD-friendly money systems that honor your unique needs—from budgeting to saving to setting financial goals. We’ll also dive into how cultural factors and identity shape your money habits and how to reframe them to serve your growth.

This episode is for you if you’ve been struggling to stay consistent with your money, want to learn how to manage finances with ADHD more effectively, and are ready to ditch the shame in favor of practical tools and compassion.

How to Start Managing Finances with ADHD

[00:00:00]

The episode begins with a personal look at what it’s like to manage finances with ADHD. I share how my own struggles with focus, forgetfulness, and emotional overwhelm made personal finance feel impossible—until I realized I needed to stop trying to follow neurotypical systems.

We talk about what it means to acknowledge your unique brain and create structures that fit you. The first step in learning how to manage finances with ADHD is unlearning the idea that you’re doing it wrong just because it doesn’t look like everyone else’s path.

What First-Gen Latinas with ADHD Need to Know About Money

[00:05:00]

First-gen Latinas navigating ADHD often deal with unspoken pressures: to succeed, to take care of la familia, and to not make mistakes. When you add in executive dysfunction and emotional dysregulation, managing money becomes even harder.

I share how ADHD symptoms like impulsive spending or forgetting bills aren’t character flaws—they’re signals that your money systems need to be different. This episode gives you permission to do things your way and normalize the experience of managing finances with ADHD.

One of my favorite quotes from this section:
“You are not broken. You just need money tools that are built for how your brain works.”

Common Mistakes to Avoid When Managing Finances with ADHD

[00:09:00]

Let’s talk about what not to do when you’re trying to manage finances with ADHD:

  • Don’t depend solely on willpower or memory
  • Avoid systems that are too detailed or overwhelming
  • Stop copying money strategies that don’t fit your energy or attention levels

Instead, we discuss how to use automation, visual cues, and reminders to reduce decision fatigue. This section gives you a roadmap to avoid common pitfalls and gently move toward consistency.

Behind the Scenes of Creating ADHD-Friendly Money Systems

[00:12:00]

Here’s where I get real about the behind-the-scenes of figuring out how to manage finances with ADHD as a Latina entrepreneur. From calendar reminders to labeled bank accounts, every step was trial and error.

You’ll learn why traditional money advice like “just track every dollar” doesn’t work for neurodivergent folks—and what does. I also talk about using apps and accountability buddies to stay engaged with my finances, even when my brain resists.

This episode proves that when you design systems around your needs, money stops being a stressor and starts becoming a tool for peace.

From Financial Overwhelm to Confidence with ADHD

[00:15:00]

One of the most powerful parts of learning how to manage finances with ADHD is reclaiming your self-trust. I share a transformation story about moving from chaotic spending and avoidance to feeling grounded and in control of my financial life.

This shift didn’t happen overnight—but with patience and tools that respected how my brain works, I began building sustainable habits. You’ll hear how small wins—like automating bills or setting up a “money power hour”—led to big changes.

How to Monetize and Thrive with ADHD-Friendly Finance

[00:18:00]

ADHD brains are wired for creativity, innovation, and hyperfocus—which means there’s major potential to build income in ways that feel joyful and aligned. I talk about how I built a coaching business while managing ADHD and finances in tandem.

This section includes actionable tips for solopreneurs and side hustlers to track income, separate personal and business finances, and stay consistent using tools like Profit First or simple budgeting apps. The focus: keep it simple and ADHD-friendly.

Learning how to manage finances with ADHD as an entrepreneur is all about tapping into your strengths, not just minimizing your challenges.

Why Neurodivergent Money Systems Matter

[00:22:00]

At the heart of this episode is a reminder: there’s no one right way to manage money—especially if you have ADHD. Your systems, your timeline, and your wins count.

We wrap up by exploring the why behind this message. Managing finances with ADHD isn’t just about numbers—it’s about freedom, peace of mind, and breaking generational patterns. You are creating a new blueprint, and every step matters.

When you give yourself grace, honor your process, and use the right tools, you prove that financial success is possible—even if your path looks different.
